Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial 2026 Release

The NV Único Reserva Especial 2026 Release was produced with a blend of wines from 2011, 2012 and 2014, which are similar vintages to 2025, and with wine from 2014 instead of 2013 this time, mostly Tinto Fino with some Cabernet Sauvignon. It has the customary 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.86 and 4.8 grams of acidity. They are trying to use older wines for this blend; the 2011 and 2012 are the same, and 2014 was a better vintage than 2013. This is a blending exercise in search of the Vega Sicilia character, with complexity; the older wines provide nuance and elegance and the younger wines add freshness. This has a magnificent palate; it's sleek, polished and elegant, with fine-grained tannins.
