2023 Domaine de la Vougeraie Gevrey-Chambertin

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from a combination of several lieux-dits. It has a vigorous nose of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and autumn leaves, gently unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins, almost chalky in texture. It just dips in the second half, attenuating slightly and not quite delivering the complexity that the aromatics augur. So-so.
