DOMAINE DE LA VOUGERAIE
Burgundy, France

The house of Burgundy is formidable and, for many, forbidding.

Hence the appeal of Domaine de la Vougeraie, which offers a side door entrance to the beauty and splendor of those life-affirming wines without paying the freight.

And we've just made that prospect even more enticing, by slashing prices 20-30% for every one of the wines in this stellar marketplace collection.

This is a fantastic opportunity to stock your cellar with superlative Grand Cru Burgundy … and without breaking the bank to do it.

Much has been made over the years of Vougeraie’s biodynamic commitment, and it’s impressive to be sure. So is their fierce and proud devotion to the laborious and painstaking winemaking practices of old.

But what it comes down to is what the real estate mavens have long drilled into us: location, location, location.

The domaine's portfolio reads like a greatest-hits collection of Burgundian terroir: Grand Cru holdings in Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Clos de Vougeot, and Chevalier-Montrachet, plus that legendary monopole Vougeot Clos Blanc de Vougeot, which produces some of the most ethereal white wine in the world.

These aren't modest village parcels we're talking about, folks: this is prime oenological real estate, spread across 58 hectares of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.

Of course, terroir doesn’t mean a whole helluva lot if you don’t know how to tend to it — or, since this is Burgundy, pamper it.

And let me tell you, Vougeraie knows how to. Production here borders on the monastic: natural yeasts, gentle extractions, aging in Cîteaux oak sourced from the same forests that supplied medieval abbeys. And all of this guided by lunar calendars and biodynamic principles that many producers pay lip service to but which few actually follow.

The Vougeraie story begins in 1964, when the family acquired its first plot, Les Evocelles, in Gevrey-Chambertin, then spent the next four decades methodically assembling what would become one of Burgundy's most impressive portfolios.

Twenty years later came the Vougeot vineyards and their first Côte de Beaune holdings, followed by more Beaune parcels in 1996, before the circle closed with the acquisition of Le Clos Blanc monopole, that white wine Valhalla, which gleams like gold in a sea of red.

For us, Vougeraie is a producer that transcends scores and even vintages. There’s a classicism and elegance here that harkens to a different time, and pulls you back to a simpler, better world, in the same way that an old movie from the '40s does.

One more note, before I wrap this up: every one of these wines is built for the long haul. They have the structure and purity to develop the kind of complexity and profundity that makes Burgundy collectors so justifiably smug.

Act now to secure yours … and let the dividends begin accruing.
