1981 Noble Champagne Grand Cru Brut

94 POINTS: This, from an original disgorgement in December of 1991, is the deepest in colour of all the wines in the tasting, reflecting the character of mature Pinot Noir. At the same time, it remains lively and expressive on both the nose and palate, showing a creamy opulence and an inviting complexity and charm, bound by a malic acidity that’s typically Lanson but very fragrant and generous overall. This seems to be at an optimal point of drinking, feeling fully open and developed without being overly mature, and above all, it’s utterly delicious to drink.
