It's a question we get a lot around here. And it's not only bargain-hunters who ask us; it's hard-core collectors, too, whose vast libraries date back decades.
We get it. Not every occasion is a grand and elaborate affair. Sometimes you just want something delicious and versatile to put on the table for a relaxing midweek meal.

Why Burgundy?
The recent vintages coming out of the region have been excellent, and you simply can't beat Burgundy when it comes to versatility at the table – these are some of the best pairing wines in the world. And we're firm in our belief that when you're on the lookout for great deals, you shouldn't stint on complexity, depth, and finesse.
And these 5 have all of those traits going for them, and then some.
Here’s James Suckling, composing a virtual tone poem to the Domaine Vincent Lumpp Givry 1er Cru La Grande Berge 2022: "creamy and delicious," he wrote, with a "full body, but brimming with zesty undertones and a refreshing minerality" and a "sleek finish."
He was just as enamored of the Domaine de La Renaissance Rully Les Gaudoirs 2022, with its "notes of white peaches and baked apples with pastry crust, toffee and cream," its "creamy" palate with "hints of salted butter and caramel," and "clean and textured" finish.
Both wines, we should add, are superlative dance partners for seafood salads, oysters on the halfshell, shrimp in garlic sauce, and nearly any preparation of fish.
We've got another Domaine de La Renaissance in the lineup, their Rully La Barre 2022. We love it for its juiciness and spice, and the way such a bright, easy-going wine delivers such a layered experience. Suckling is a fan, too. He singled out its vivid aromatics ("fresh cherries, strawberries, fresh herbs, paprika and a touch of clove") and called it a "nicely fruit-focused" wine, "fresh, bright, and juicy" with "lightly grainy tannins."
