HOUSE OF HAZELWOOD MARKETPLACE
If you’ve never heard of House of Hazelwood, it’s because for nearly seven decades it was a family secret of the man who helped build Glenfiddich into a global power.
During that time, Charles Gordon amassed a stash of some of the finest and most memorable casks of our time for his personal celebrations. When Gordon died in 2013, his grandkids decided to throw open the doors of his cellar — and the whisky world hasn’t been the same since.
We’ve gathered 10 of those extraordinary whiskies, none of them ever to be replicated again. They range in age from 33 years to 58 years, and the production run for each is so small that every bottle is among the rarest of rare collectibles on the market. Among the treasures:
The Last Trace, a 58-year old expression and "one of the most extraordinary whiskies I have ever tasted,” in the estimation of noted whisky writer Charles MacLean; only 65 bottles were produced … and only 1 bottle remains!
The Eight Grain, 40 years old, a blend of whiskies from eight Scottish grain distilleries, closed and active alike — a lineup that grain whisky rarely sees
The Old Confectioners, which spent 44 years old in refill sherry butts, and which was the product of highly-limited production (only 256 bottles made); and trust us, it has the sweet-shop character its name promises
The Garden at Hazelwood, aged 47 years, a portrait of the family's own garden, blooming with lavender and orchard fruit; and it’s another rarity, at only 137 bottles made
When you buy one of these irreplaceable bottles, you’re buying more than just an incredible whisky; you’re buying an heirloom, a conversation piece, a thrilling testament to time and history.
