THE MACALLAN DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER 55TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASE
SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

SPEYSIDE, SCOTLAND

WHY BUY:
As much as we love anything that honors pop culture's most suave secret agent (and with the kind of fanboy depth and detail that would have made Sean Connery himself smile, including hidden scripts that reveal themselves as you drink), what’s truly compelling here is that this 18-year expression represents something decidedly new from Scotland's most legendary distillery. The Macallan has experimented with wine casks before, but never this specific combination. Alongside their signature sherry-seasoned oak, they've added hybrid casks made from both European and American oak staves, plus barrels that previously held red wine. The result might just be the richest, smoothest expression in their entire core.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
Robb Report called it "a different animal from other Macallan releases," noting that while "the sherry-seasoned oak continues to play a dominant role on the palate," there's "a nice burst of fresh berries and some soft tannic notes that really steer the whisky's character in a direction that is new for the distillery."

OUR TASTING NOTES:
The familiar sherry influence anchors everything with those rich, concentrated fruit notes we expect and love, but then comes a vivifying burst of red berries that feels somehow both surprising and inevitable (and that speaks, clearly, to the influence of those red wine casks). As for the hybrid casks, they impart a complexity that’s harder to pin down, but at the same time impossible to ignore: notes of vanilla and spice that weave in and out with a deft subtlety. Most remarkable of all is the textured softness, which gives the whisky an entirely different mouthfeel, closer to the tannic character of a long-aged red wine. Still recognizably The Macallan, but The Macallan with a (ha) secret.

THE STORY:
The Macallan and James Bond share more than just screen time; they both represent a certain kind of sophisticated perfection that never goes out of style. When Bond showcased his knowledge of sherry in "Diamonds Are Forever" (captured in one of the script excerpts featured on this bottle's packaging), he was demonstrating his reverence for what endures and his appreciation of distinguishing detail. Two traits that are core to the philosophy of The Macallan. This tribute goes far beyond mere surface-level marketing, incorporating as it does actual set designs from the film and concept art from Ken Adams's legendary moon buggy. The whisky itself was distilled in 2007 (a subtle nod to 007) and aged for 18 years, during which it underwent that groundbreaking maturation process. The packaging reveals hidden elements as you drink, much like the film's plot, with scripts and sketches emerging from behind the rear label.

ABV:
45.5% (91 proof)

WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH:
The wine cask influence makes it surprisingly food-friendly; try it alongside duck breast or lamb with herbs. For the full Bond experience, pair it with oysters.

FUN FACT:
The bottle features the same font used in the 1971 film posters, and as you drink, hidden script excerpts reveal themselves on the reverse of the rear label.

OUR GUARANTEE:
We always buy and source directly from the distillery to ensure pristine provenance. With its innovative maturation process and Bond pedigree, this limited release won't stay on our shelves long—secure yours today before it disappears into some collector's private vault.
