From Suntory’s mountain forest distillery, nestled deep within the Southern Japanese Alps, Hakushu has long defined a distinctly “green and fresh” style of single malt — vibrant, herbal, and quietly complex.
Today, we are pleased to offer a highly limited allocation featuring two of the distillery’s most compelling aged expressions.
Hakushu 18 Year Peated Malt
A deeper exploration of Hakushu’s signature character, this 100% peated expression reveals what time and restraint can achieve. More than 18 years of maturation bring gentle, layered smokiness shaped by the distillery’s famously soft alpine waters.
On the nose, fresh sage, green apple, and pineapple lift from the glass, leading into a palate of refined smoke intertwined with herbal tones, grapefruit brightness, and acacia honey. The finish is long, clean, and marked by fresh green citrus and lingering smoke.
This is peat with precision—elegant, lifted, and unmistakably Hakushu.
Hakushu 25 Year Single Malt — One Bottle Available
At the pinnacle of the range, the Hakushu 25 Year represents the distillery’s most profound expression of age and balance. Drawn from decades of careful maturation, it offers remarkable depth without sacrificing the house’s signature vibrancy.
Aromatically, it opens with plum, cigar humidor, and caramel. The palate unfolds in layers—crème brûlée, lavender, sage, and baked pineapple—before giving way to a long, gently smoked finish accented by hints of Japanese cypress.
