TERRALSOLE BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO

TUSCANY, ITALY

One sip of today’s bold, elegantly structured wines and your taste buds will transport you to the idyllic Montalcino countryside. The sun is shining brightly amid the hilly trellised vineyards and for this moment, everything feels right in the world. Such is the magic of wine: it has the power to carry us far away from our day-to-day. This is the inspiration that acclaimed winemaker Mario Bollag tapped when he founded Terralsole, Italian for “land toward the sun.” Montalcino boasts one of the most complex and varied soil sets among the world’s vineyards, no doubt contributing to the region’s reputation for producing Sangiovese—known locally as Brunello—with incredible depth and longevity. Today we’re offering a 25% discount on two of Terralsole’s single-vineyard expressions from the sensational 2010 vintage as well as the flagship 2013 Brunello di Montalcino. These wines weave together decadent dark fruit and earth characteristics into profound expressions of Brunello di Montalcino.

Terralsole’s 30 acres of vineyards are located within two distinctive terroirs within southern Montalcino: the Pian Bossolino vineyards sit at 1,200 feet on the southeastern slope of Montalcino and grapes ripen slowly and evenly, producing elegant, aromatic wines. Jancis Robinson calls the 2010 Pian Bossolino “something for Barolo lovers,” speaking to its complexity and longevity. The wine showcases ripe cherry, cardamom, and cedar aromas and a full body with tannins that have softened beautifully over the years. The vineyards of Fonte Lattaia sit slightly lower at 750 feet; here, the Sangiovese is impressively rich and dense. The 2010 Fonte Lattaia expression is muscular but still refined, and sings with aromas of balsamic, spice, and leather. Certainly not to be forgotten, the flagship 2013 Brunello di Montalcino combines fruit from both vineyards into a classically styled expression, with precise flavors of cherry, mint, coffee, and tobacco. Bollag is part of a new wave of Italian winemaking: he isn’t afraid to utilize technology or shake up the status quo to improve the integrity of the fruit and wine, but always maintains a deep respect for tradition. Today’s wines are 100% estate grown and hand harvested, bold and built to last. Don’t miss the opportunity to secure your bottles with our limited-time 25% discount!
