From a 5-star producer duo operating out of Margaret River, the name goes back to the nicknames of its two owners. And although they’re a lot of fun, their wines are deadly serious. Without regional restraint of owning their own vineyards, they are fanatical about sourcing excellent fruit for their wines, even going as far as selecting only a few rows from a certain vineyard. Producing three tiers of expressions, it is their Safari range that is designed to explain the spirit and soul of the winery: the search for remarkable grapes from Western Australia showcasing the quality of regional styles. Scoring 95-Points each year since its first bottling in 2011 from one of Australia’s premier wine experts, James Halliday, Snake & Herring’s Perfect Day is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon - one of those beautifully balanced whites for the summer that can be enjoyed all year round. Using fruit from two single vineyards in the Margaret River sub-region of Karridale, the fresh and fragrant character of the wine is very reflective of its origins. Home to some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in Margaret River, Karridale produces grapes naturally higher in acidity with an aromatic citrus fruit profile. Blended with Semillon, which provides notes of zesty lemon along with racy minerality, the wine is kept on the lees for 6 months, further enhancing texture and complexity. With nearly half of the blend barrel fermented, the wine achieves incredible elegance and richness while preserving plenty of zip.
