SNAKE + HERRING

2015 Dirty Boots Cabernet Sauvignon and 2017 Tough Love Chardonnay

MARGARET RIVER, AUSTRALIA

Though some would argue that there is no such thing as the 'perfect' wine (it's all a matter of taste of course), I do subscribe to the idea that there are certain wines that strike a chord with a vast majority of consumers. These wines ride the line between sumptuousness and tension, with enough fruit to counterbalance the acidity. They're not too heavy handed or loud nor are they too thin and frail - they are intense and deeply satisfying, in a distinctly subtle way. This is what I continue to find with Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The more I taste, the more I lust after these Western Australian alternatives. Even more surprising is that this famous region only has 50 years of winemaking history under its belt, as opposed to the centuries of history many of the world's most renowned wine regions lay claim to. One might also assume that finding this kind of wine must come with a hefty price tag, but the wines of Snake & Herring continue to defy this notion by leaps and bounds.

After a landslide sell-out of the 2017 Snake & Herring "Cannonball" Cabernet from Margaret River a few months back, we know a majority of our customers did not have the opportunity to taste Cabernet from this benchmark region. To make up for it, we went on the hunt for not only a world-class Cabernet, but for a top-ranked Chardonnay and that is exactly what we are offering you today. As Matt Kramer of Wine Spectator has said, "The top rank of Margaret River Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon is, simply put, in the top rank in the world. And by that, I'm including the likes of Burgundy (for the Chardonnay) and Bordeaux and Napa Valley (for Cabernet Sauvignon)." So for today's wines, we 're showcasing just that. Everything you could hope for in a region defining wine, and then some.

Chardonnay is the pinnacle of white wines in Margaret River. The grapes for Snake & Herring's "Tough Love" Chardonnay are hand selected from three sub-regions for their individual characteristics that exude structure, elegance and class. Already very appealing and clearly drinkable, while showcasing the qualities of longevity, this Chardonnay has fine bones, with great fruit lift of white nectarine and grapefruit. Utilizing wild fermentation followed by aging on the fine lees, the wine is creamy, beautifully textured and complex.

Cabernet is the King of Margaret River, and this rendition of Cabernet is just that, from nine blocks of Cabernet - three from Yallingup, three from Wilyabrup and three blocks from the deep dark south of Karridale. The Yallingup Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards have provided the earthy, chocolate, blackberry notes with fleshy texture; the Wilyabrup components contribute ripe blackcurrant and violet aromatics with dense and rich filigreed long tannins. The southern Karridale Cabernet Sauvignon has more savory elements of olive, herbs and dark chocolate with a sinewy tannin structure. The result in an unequivocally delicious Cabernet with aromatics that jump out of the glass. Blackberry, currents, herbs, chocolate and black olive are layered with supple tannins and great persistence.

Though we were able to find these beauties and are offering them to you for an unbelievably wallet-friendly price, quantities are extremely limited. And with a price as low as $19.97 a bottle, this is an offer you don't want to miss. If Chardonnay is your thing, you can buy a 6-bottle pack of Chardonnay. Likewise, if you only like red wine, you can buy a 6-pack of Cabernet. Or, as I would suggest, pick the sweet spot right in the middle: 3 bottles of each! To taste these delicious wines at this price, we suggest acting quickly before these sell out!
