SIDURI PINOT NOIR

CALIFORNIA 2018

Seriousness and fun — they're not mutually exclusive, but you might not know that to judge by the output of many wineries. Clear divisions are drawn in this industry: the highly structured wines that matter, and the wines that are for easy-drinking pleasure.

At Siduri, those barriers are brought down, which is one of the many things that has made us fall in love with this cult hit winery.

There’s also the fact that certain vintages of theirs have resulted in a kind of magic, and 2018 appears to be one of them.

Witness the two gorgeous Pinot Noirs we bring you today: their 94-point Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands and their 91-point Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills).

Since its founding, in 1994, as a labor of love from partners Adam Lee and Dianna Novy, Siduri has put its focus on cool-climate, single-vineyard Pinot Noir, made with grapes sourced from more than twenty vineyard sites on the West Coast, from Oregon's Willamette Valley down to Santa Barbara, in California.

What makes these wines so distinct, and so special, is that the team — including winemaker Matt Revelette, who came to Siduri after previous stints at William Selyem, Kosta Browne, and Sojourn Cellars, three of the best makers of Pinot Noir in all of California — is almost fanatical in trying to preserve the individual character and flavor of each of its vineyards.

Operationally, that means minimal intervention in the cellar. Nearly always, its wines are bottled un-filtered and un-fined. As they like to say at Siduri: "We let the wine make itself."

These two are gorgeous cases in point.

In his 94-point rave of the 2018 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard,' Josh Raynolds of Vinous called out its "expressive aromas," "mineral nuances," "seamless" texture," the way it "smoothly blends power and finesse," and "a very long, gently tannic finish."

Here's more Vinous enthusiasm, for the 2018 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills): "Captures the essence of the appellation so well ... Sweet dark cherry, plum, espresso, licorice and lavender race out of the glass in an exuberant, forward Pinot Noir that is sure to find many admirers.”

Yes, indeed, and especially at a best price of less than $34 a bottle.

Folks, we'll have both of these superlative wines on hand for the next week only, so please take advantage of special Concierge Family pricing to snag them both for your collection and your table!
