YAKIMA VALLEY, WASHINGTON 2015

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is Sheridan Vineyard’s flagship and is helping to define the great wine in the state of Washington, drawing comparisons to the first growths of Bordeaux. Balanced by spectacular power and impeccable elegance, this seamless wine is consistently one of the top Cabernets of every vintage and the 2015 is “dialed up a notch” (James Suckling). As word is getting out, it’s becoming more difficult to secure a strong allocation. Fortunately we did just that for you today!

With a lineup of wines that are some of my favorites from Washington, Sheridan Vineyard comes from 76 acres in Yakima Valley. The hilltop property is fully planted with a focus on sustainable farming practices and extraordinarily low yields. With each successive vintage, owner and winemaker Scott Greer seems to outdo himself, crafting wines of unbelievable depth and complexity. The Block 1 is aged for over 2 years in new French oak and is truly a world-class wine that rivals the top Cabernets of the wine world, combining New World flavors with Old World finesse.

The 2015 is absolutely delicious, offering a multitude of layers, incredible balance and decades of ageability. The wine jumps out of the glass with saturated dark plums, ripe berries, graphite and cedar balanced by flavors of chocolate, tobacco and spice. Full-bodied, this is a concentrated style with supple, rounded tannins and a strong overlay of “sweet, sexy oak” (Stephen Tanzer) that will age beautifully. Of course it will be hard to keep in your cellar as the 2015 is approachable now.
