ROSEBANK 32 YEAR SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

LOWLANDS, SCOTLAND

WHY BUY:
A rare chance to taste history from a shuttered but beloved icon. Rosebank, revered as the ‘King of the Lowlands’, once one of Scotland's premier whisky-makers, closed in 1993, when United Distillers opted not to invest in needed facility updates — only to be resurrected, thankfully, in 2023 by Ian Macleod Distillers. This third and final edition in the first global series of legacy releases represents whisky from their final years of production before closure. It comes with a massive age statement — 32 years! — but that's not all it has going for it. It was also triple-distilled in the old Lowland style. The result is a delicious dram of unbeatable refinement, with a light, floral profile that makes drinking as smooth and easy as breathing silk. Don't miss your opportunity to claim a highly collectible and masterfully made single malt … and reconnect with Rosebank's timeless allure.

OUR TASTING NOTES:
Thirty-two years of aging and patient triple-distillation has created something that balances grace and intensity in ways that seem almost impossible. This is a whisky that proves you can have elegance without sacrificing character and intensity. It opens with sweet aromas of pineapple and candied ginger mingling with lemon and marzipan with hints of white pepper and café latte. The mouthfeel  delivers creamy sophistication and hints of malt, thyme, butterscotch, tropical fruits, drying oak and softly warming spice. A soft and long finish has notes of lemon, honeyed porridge and toasted walnut that lingers like the last, sustained note of a symphony.

THE STORY:
Some closures feel like cultural vandalism, and Rosebank's 1993 shuttering was precisely that. Here was a distillery that had spent decades perfecting the art of triple-distilled Lowland single malt, creating whiskies that, at their best, possessed an almost ethereal elegance. United Distillers decided the economics didn't work and pulled the plug, leaving whisky lovers bereft and the remaining stocks increasingly precious. Enter Ian Macleod Distillers in 2023, who understood that some legends should not be consigned to the dustbin. And what we have here in this 32-year-old is evidence of a distillery that right up to the end, faced with closure, refused to compromise on quality. In that sense, this new bottling is both elegy and celebration, and proof that great art might not always satisfy those who hold the power, but it always gets the last word.
