REMUS GATSBY RESERVE 2025 LIMITED EDITION
15 YEAR STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY

USA

WHY BUY: Listen up, old sports: we're perpetually on the hunt for bourbons that distinguish themselves from the pack, and this ultra-limited 15-year-old from the great Remus held us captive from the very first sip. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece, it’s a powerful, cask-strength (102.8 proof) bourbon built from not one but two signature mashbills, and aged to perfection at a distillery just miles from where George Remus lorded over his Prohibition-era empire. Even for a brand that landed on the Robb Report's 50 Greatest Bourbons, this is a significant achievement, a bourbon for slow, contemplative sipping that will remind you of your younger and more vulnerable years and most assuredly deliver you from your valley of ashes.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Robb Report included Remus Gatsby Reserve on its prestigious list of 50 Greatest Bourbons, while the San Francisco World Spirits Competition awarded it Double Gold honors. The American Spirits Council of Tasters went even further, naming it a 2025 Ascot Awards Platinum Winner. Critics have consistently praised the series for its complexity and craftsmanship, with many noting how the dual mashbill approach makes for mind-bending depth and resonance.

OUR TASTING NOTES: As rich and irresistible as Daisy Buchanan in all her flapper glory. The nose calls to mind luxurious leather-bound libraries and expensive cigars, with waves of caramelized sugar and dark chocolate weaving through the background. On the palate, rich maple syrup and blackstrap molasses make for a formidable (and compelling) duo, while hints of exotic spices dance a foxtrot around the edges. There's a wonderful smokiness here, too, one that whispers of old oak and time itself. At nearly 103 proof, it has the backbone to stand up to serious contemplation while remaining smooth enough to sip neat as you contemplate the green light across the bay.

THE STORY: So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past … and, well, sometimes that's exactly where we need to go to find greatness. George Remus presided over the bootlegging world in the 1920s, a titan who used his knowledge of both pharmacy and law to find loopholes in the Volstead Act that enabled him to dispense booze to the masses for "medicinal purposes.” Some say Fitzgerald's titular character Jay Gatsby was inspired by Remus himself, with some believing the author’s 1918 meeting with the bootlegger planted the seed for what would become an American classic. Whether you buy that story or not, there's no denying that Remus was Gatsby-esque in his ambitions and his flair for the dramatic. Today, his spirit lives on at this bold producer, which distills its bourbons at the historic Ross & Squibb Distillery, just miles from Cincinnati where Remus oversaw his Prohibition-era empire. Can't repeat the past? Why of course you can … especially when it tastes this good.

ABV: 51.4% (102.8 proof)

FUN FACT: The Great Gatsby was out of print for nearly three decades before the literary critics Malcolm Cowley and Edmund Wilson and the waggish wit Dorothy Parker helped to revive its reputation and restore it to print.

OUR GUARANTEE: As always, we only buy and source directly from the distillery, so rest assured: your bourbon will arrive in your hands with pristine provenance. Order yours today!
