Released only in outstanding years with long term ageing potential, Vintage Ports are unlike any other wine. With the potential to last over 100 years, their ability to improve over a vast period of time is unparalleled. Boasting one of the longest wine histories from one of the most breathtakingly beautiful wine regions, the Douro Valley, Port style runs the spectrum from amazing everyday value to ultra-rare cellar trophies with seemingly endless ageing potential. Today we feel incredibly fortunate to be able to offer truly extraordinary examples of this latter category, including Taylor Fladgate’s 1970 Single Harvest Vintage Port as well as two highly coveted showstopping 100-point wines from the outstanding 1994 vintage in one single two-bottle gift pack. As a bonus, we have another rarity: the most recently declared Vintage Port release from one of Ramos Pinto’s four prized estates, Quinta do Bom Retiro, which has just debuted its global release!

There are some families that are so entrenched in a wine region’s history that it’s nearly impossible to think of one without the other. Such is the case with Port and today’s legacy producers, Taylor Fladgate, Fonseca and Ramos Pinto. Since its foundation in the late 1600s, Taylor Fladgate has been at the forefront of Port innovation and has become a benchmark for its powerful and elegant Vintage Ports with incredible longevity in cellar. Fonseca, established in the early 19th century, today perfectly balances traditional winemaking practices with modern and sustainable agriculture at Quinta do Panascal, along with their other estate holdings Santo António and Cruzeiro, and the wines seem to be getting better and better—truly some of the best Port available today. As for Ramos Pinto, the house was founded in 1880 and continually champions the belief that crafting quality wine begins in the vineyard—today the house is composed of four quintas, or estates—and has implemented new viticultural techniques and strict production policies that improve quality without sacrificing tradition or terroir, exemplified with their always eagerly awaited Single Quinta Vintage Ports.

As Ramos Pinto has a legacy of extraordinary Vintage Ports going back to the 19th century, today’s 2018 comes from an estate with history that can be traced to 1789. Only produced in exceptional years—and the first declared since 2014—the Quinta do Bom Retiro Vintage Port is crafted exclusively from the best plots of the property, with a limited production of just 750 cases for the entire world. On top of this extraordinary opportunity comes a limited debut release from Taylor Fladgate: their 1970 Single Harvest Vintage Port. Taylor Fladgate holds one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask aged Port of any producer and each year makes a limited release of a Single Harvest Port made 50 years previously. These ports come from a single year and age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks. Today’s just released 98-point 1970 Single Harvest is just the seventh in the series and is not to miss. As a headline for today’s offer, it doesn’t get much better than the 1994 Vintage Port gift pack of Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca, comprised of one half-bottle each. Scoring perfect 100-point scores, these two wines are true collector items that are must-have trophies for any cellar. All three rare items come in stylish gift boxes and as we have extremely limited inventory, don’t delay in securing your orders today!
