OUR TASTING NOTES:
First impressions are often wrong, but this one proved to be a more than reliable guide. We loved its golden butterscotch character, which comes on rich and assertive, but not in the least cloying, or sticky. What does that tell you? It tells you that its sweetness has been tempered by time rather than enlarged by it. The notes of vanilla and toasted oak give depth and shadow to this emerging portrait. Things get even more interesting on the palate, where brown sugar opens up into walnut and fig, and the texture takes on that quality that long-aged spirits develop when they’re matured without rushing: silken and almost viscous, without any of the heaviness that you might expect. The finish is rich, long, and almost savory, hovering somewhere between dried fruit and tobacco leaf, with a wonderful, lingering touch of oak.
