OREGON SPIRIT STRAIGHT BOURBON BOTTLED IN BOND

OREGON, USA

Why Buy: Oregon Spirit Distillers stands among the true believers of the American grain-to-glass movement, a band of spirits obsessives crafting some of the most thoughtful (and, increasingly, sought-after) whiskeys in the game. Their new Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon (which took home a prestigious Silver Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition last year) showcases exactly why we're betting big on this producer – exceptional craft and detailing, at prices that seem almost absurd given the quality on display.

Our Tasting Notes: The Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon leads with inviting notes of kettle corn and dark fruit before opening out into rich waves of caramel and vanilla. There’s a sneaky complexity here, and one that seems to evolve and mature with each sip you take.

The Story: Like so many brands in the world of wine and spirits, Oregon Spirit Distillers is the product of one man's passion to bring his labor of love to a wider audience. That man is Brad Irwin, who founded the company in 2009, creating Central Oregon's first grain-to-glass whiskey distillery to take advantage of the extraordinary raw materials at his disposal – namely, the great bounty of grains the region has long been renowned for, as well as the pure, crisp water of the Cascade Mountains. As instrumental as that terroir has been to OSD's story, however, the brand would not have become the success that it has without its devoted and detail-minded distilling team, which takes exceptional care in ensuring that each and every bottling is not just excellent, but also distinct.

The Method: To earn the certification "Bottled in Bond," a spirit must meet four exacting criteria: it must be the product of a single distillation season and a single distiller from a single distillery; it must be barreled and stored in bonded warehouses under U.S. government supervision for no less than 4 years; the strength must be 100 proof; and nothing but water may be added after barrel aging – a guarantee that the product has not been sweetened or force-aged.

ABV: Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, 50% (100 proof)

Fun Fact: When Irwin launched his business in 2009, he kept his day job – well, night job: he was a bartender.

Our Guarantee: As always, we source directly from the distillery to ensure perfect provenance. Secure yours today!
