You may be shocked when you see the cost per bottle of today’s offer, but we think you’ll be shocked in the best possible way. Today’s wine comes from Southern Rhône leaders Franck and Olivier Mousset: fourth-generation winemakers at Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s Clos Saint-Michel, known for their classically styled, opulent wines. The 2016 vintage was certainly a good one for the Mousset brothers, with their top Châteauneuf-du-Pape labels garnering massive scores from Wine Advocate (*wink* *wink* keep your eyes peeled in the coming months!). Luckily for us, the Mousset family continues to invest in up-and-coming regions throughout the Rhône Valley, believing in the untapped potential of these areas to produce high-quality and high-value wines. Their latest venture is Sainte-Cécile, the newest “named” village within the Côtes du Rhône-Villages AOC. Enter today’s luscious Grenache-led blend that is one of the best bangs-for-your-buck we’ve tasted in a long time. Led by a round, supple texture and lively raspberry and blackcurrant aromas, the wine is deeply discounted to below $13/bottle, with even deeper discounts on a case. This is a true crowd-pleasing wine that would be an excellent companion to simple weeknight meals but certainly has the elegance to be a welcome pour during your upcoming holiday dinners.

As the top of the Côtes du Rhône hierarchy, the twenty named villages are often the source of some the best price-to-quality ratio wines from the region. Sainte-Cécile is near Orange and extends over five communes, with around 1,400 hectares under vine, predominantly Grenache. It’s a beautifully picturesque village and the wines we’ve tasted so far live up to the hype surrounding the new designation. Also of note is the tremendous vintage: 2016 is being heralded as a new “benchmark” vintage within the Southern Rhône, producing reds that are “laden with fruit, yet extremely racy and fresh in feel” (Wine Spectator). The Mousset portfolio includes some of the Rhône’s most prestigious wines, as well as some of the best values.
