MAISON LOUIS JADOT

BURGUNDY, FRANCE 2019

Decanter’s Charles Curtis reports that 2019 is “a hedonistic vintage that will take its place alongside other exceptional recent years in Burgundy...wines [offer] an outstanding balance of intense fruit, firm structure and supple texture.” Although Burgundy is of course the source of some of the world’s most famously expensive and rare wines, there are spectacular values to be found—even when it comes to a vintage looking to be opulent and collectible as 2019. We’re happy to report that we’ve managed to source an incredible lineup of 2019 Chardonnay from Jadot for our offer today, including the prized Meursault ‘Narvaux’; the overachieving Beaune Blanc; the expressive Pernand-Vergelesses 'Les Combottes’; and the tremendous Côte Chalonnaise value, Givry Blanc. The excitement surrounding this vintage coupled with our Mix & Match pricing up to 20% off makes these wines must-haves for your collection.

The expansive Maison Louis Jadot portfolio of wines—crafted today by Frédéric Barnier, who trained under legendary winemaker Jacques Lardière—spans the spectrum of crus and styles, but a focus on quality remains paramount across the portfolio. “Maison Louis Jadot's principles of vinification balance tradition and technology, and focus on the purest expression of each wine’s terroir, taking the lightest possible hand in winemaking and a restrained use of oak maturation” (Maison Louis Jadot). Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, but the first of the Jadot family arrived in Beaune from Belgium in the late 1700s. The family quickly began purchasing Premier and Grand Cru vineyards and today Maison Louis Jadot owns 528 acres of vineyards, including 280 within the Côte d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots.

The Napoleonic Code of the early 1800s (which required equal land distribution among heirs) impacted other winegrowing regions, but nowhere so acutely as Burgundy. Today, many vineyard owners hold tiny parcels of vines, and the scattering of vineyard puzzle pieces that make up the landscape are astounding to behold. In light of this, the integrity of the producer is as important (if not more so) as the status of the appellation or vineyard. Though they are one of the largest names in the region, Maison Louis Jadot remains a venerable and trusted wine house. Don’t delay in adding these Jadot new releases to your cellar today!
