LOUIS JADOT

BURGUNDY, FRANCE 2024

In a year that tested every grower in Burgundy, Louis Jadot did what only the great houses can. Low yields and uneven conditions in 2024 demanded ruthless selection. Few producers on earth had the vast holdings (or the nerve, frankly) to throw away most of a crop and still bottle greatness.

Drawing on some of Burgundy's most celebrated vineyards, Jadot simply made less wine, but the wines it did make are, well —  taste for yourself.

Purity, precision, elegance.

In short, everything you could want from Burgundy.

And please bear in mind, folks: these wines are produced from Jadot's most prized holdings — parcels marked Domaine Louis Jadot and Héritiers Louis Jadot, the latter carrying the name of the founding family itself — and many are made in such tiny quantities that they're spoken for long before a case arrives on these shores:

- the Clos des Ursules, Jadot's own monopole since 1826

- the Clos de la Garenne, one of Puligny-Montrachet’s most coveted Premier Cru sites — indeed, the one that made the appellation legendary; and a vineyard that, for us and many others, is absolutely of Grand Cru quality, while also delivering exceptional value

- the Clos Saint-Jacques, the Gevrey premier cru that so many believe performs at Grand Cru level

- the iconic Corton-Charlemagne, one of the greatest sites for Chardonnay on the entire planet

The whites are the stars of 2024: Chablis Fourchaume, all crystalline minerality and citrus drive; the Puligny 1er Crus bringing a marvelous richness to that vibrant, mouthwatering acidity that the appellation is so prized for. The reds, where they made the cut, are perfumed, silky, and quietly triumphant.

And here's what never stops astonishing us: every Grand Cru that Jadot makes stands in the company of the best in Burgundy — and every one costs appreciably less. That's been true for decades, and savvy collectors know to stock up when opportunity arises.

What struck us most in our recent tasting was how little the challenges of the vintage showed up in the glass.

Across the board, the purity and character is undeniable, and that’s a major credit to the Jadot team; we doubt that lesser hands could have pulled that off. These are wines that reward attention now, and that also portend years of graceful evolution to come.

It’s funny, and deeply telling, that the words of Robert Parker, written in 1995, more than thirty years ago, still stand today: the wines of Jadot, he wrote, are "rich, well-delineated, structured wines that stand the test of time."

Hear, hear.

And just to note, we only buy and source directly from the producer, so rest assured: your wines will arrive in your hands with pristine provenance. Secure your bottles and cases today!
