KAPCSANDY, ESTATE CUVEE, STATE LANE VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA 2014

Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley can often be synonymous with over-extraction, but First-Growth inspired Kapcsandy is a seamless marriage of elegance and power, producing some of the most magnificent, Bordelaise-style Cabernet Sauvignon in the valley. Purchased in 2000, the Kapcsandy estate encompasses a pristine, impeccably built winery and a 15-acre of vineyard (State Lane Vineyard), which was the long time source for Beringer Vineyard’s ‘Private Reserve’ Cabernet Sauvignon. With the goal of producing world-class fruit, an in depth study of the vineyard was conducted using NASA research to survey the land – 34 pits were dug into the vineyard for soil analysis, satellite imagery was employed to determine the orientation and density of plantings, and the vineyards were replanted under the direction of Helen Turley and Jon Wetlaufer. With the addition of Denis Malbec as consulting winemaker in 2007, formerly of Chateau Latour and one of the most highly acclaimed consultants in the world, Kapcsandy “burst onto the qualitative scene in Napa in a dramatic way, and in just over ten years of experience have done an absolutely amazing job with what was once the Beringer-owned State Lane Vineyard in Yountville" (Robert Parker).

A wine of exquisite purity and finesse, Kapcsandy’s Estate Cuvee State Lane Vineyard 2014 is the pinnacle for Bordeaux varietals in California. With an unwavering dedication to quality, the vineyard is planted 4-5 times more densely than what is typical in Napa Valley. Mirroring the vineyard plantings of Bordeaux’s First Growths, the vines are planted to 6500-7500 vines/hectare. This naturally stresses the vines - producing smaller berries, with a high skin-to-juice-ratio, thus further intensifying the flavors and aromas of the grapes. Furthermore, only the best, perfectly uniformed berries are harvested, dropping 5 tons/acre during the growing season, and only using about 3 tons/acre for their wines. In addition to a unique cooperage regimen, the wines are more distinctly Bordelaise than most. Supremely polished, refined and focused, even in vintages that are often voluptuous, this wine wields a rare focus and precision. Normally $159.99 a bottle, for one week, we’re offering the rare opportunity to purchase this wine for as low as $119.97/bottle!
