As the demand for craft whiskeys has exploded, small, independent whiskey makers have been looking to balance modern tastes of whiskey aficionados with their country's rich traditions. One of these traditions is the art of bonding in Ireland. In the 19th century Irish distilleries produced a simple spirit but did not bottle or sell their own whiskey. Instead, special merchants known as bonders selected the finest whiskeys and matured and finished them, holding them in specialized warehouses and ensuring provenance. Some of the most iconic brands of bonded whiskey include Green and Yellow Spot from Mitchell & Sons as well as Redbreast. But this tradition doesn’t just stop at the larger-scale – smaller names have entered the market and are sourcing some of the finest whiskeys in the country to produce limited release bottlings that rival these whiskey icons – for an incredible price. Today’s offer is from one such bonder. Since 1640 and for over ten generations, the Hyde family has been in the Irish drinks business and today, we have a small allocation of two of their limited release bottlings for a screaming deal.
 

Based in County Cork, brothers Alan and Conor Hyde continue the family tradition of bonding and purveying some of the best whiskey from the island. Sourcing mainly from the famous Cooley distillery, producer of such renowned names as Connemara and Tyrconnell, the Hyde's seek out and carefully hand select the finest single malt, single grain and blended whiskies and produce rare, limited bottlings that have become some of the most internationally-recognized and awarded whiskeys. Focusing on wood management and cask maturation, the whiskeys are finished in various innovative types of barrels, including Rum, Sherry, Port and Madeira, and matured under bond at Little Island in County Cork.
 

With just 5,000 bottles produced of Hyde’s Limited Edition bottlings for the entire world, we were lucky to get our hands on a small allocation of their No. 6 President’s Reserve and debut their No. 7 President’s Cask. An 18-year and 8-year blend aged in Bourbon barrels and finished in Sherry casks plus a 6-Year Single Malt whiskey aged completely in Sherry casks for sub-$55 seems too good to be true, but that’s exactly what we’re showcasing for our offer today for a special 2-pack price. The No. 6 President's Reserve is a blend of 18 Year Single Malt and 8 Year Single Grain finished in Sherry cask butts for an additional 9 months, winning the best in category award at the World Whiskies Awards. The newest addition, the No. 7 President's Cask, is a 6 Year Single Malt from 100% Malted Irish Barley, triple distilled in a traditional copper pot still and matured completely in Oloroso "Hogshead" Sherry casks.
