HUNDRED ACRE

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA 2022

Most estates don’t produce one 100-pointer in a vintage, let alone three.

But then, most estates aren’t Hundred Acre.

And folks, we’re thrilled to have just secured fresh allocations of these 100-pointers, after such strong demand last time. This is a terrific opportunity to acquire three perfect wines (in three-pack cases) from this beloved, small-production Napa cult winery, and from what already looks to be a legendary 2022 vintage.

Just listen to the critics’ exaltations ...

In her love letter to the Morgan's Way Cabernet, Lisa Perrotti-Brown hailed it for its “full-on, full-bodied palate … packed with layer upon layer of floral, blue fruit, and mineral notes … [with] an electric backbone of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.”

That long finish, a Hundred Acre hallmark, also bedazzled James Suckling in his experience of the Wraith Cabernet, a “powerful” wine with “creamy tannins” and “elegance” that “rolls over the palate and goes on for minutes.”

And Suckling was, if anything, even more rapturous about the Ark Vineyard Cabernet, a wine whose “texture leaves me breathless and speechless. Incredible length and depth.”

If you’re a Hundred Acre loyalist (and they are legion), then you know that perfection has long since become the expectation with each vintage. Since 2000, its wines have earned 100-point scores an estimated 60 times, with nearly half of those from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate alone.

That’s one reason we always say that Jayson Woodbridge is the kind of winemaker who makes other winemakers feel like they're not trying hard enough.

Having survived a life-threatening illness at 18, Woodbridge emerged from it with a ferocious, almost evangelical commitment to excellence. After leaving a career in investment banking, he taught himself winemaking from the ground up and has since turned his obsession into an art form. He walks his vineyards inspecting each cluster individually. He installed micro-misting systems borrowed from Dutch tulip farms. He commissioned custom-designed fermentation tanks. He put NASA-grade air filtration systems in his cellars. Harvest passes are so selective that only about one-tenth of the available fruit ends up in the bottle.

The results of this fanaticism are inarguable. They’re also tangible.

What we love most of all about these wines is that all this careful detailing actually shows up in the glass.

The Ark Vineyard is the most structurally commanding of the three we’ve brought you today, with a texture that a wine that will have you wondering if Woodbridge had somehow figured out how to liquefy velvet

The Morgan's Way is its counterpart in elegance: picture a dancer with perfect posture, and you'll have some idea of the control and finesse at work here, the layers of floral and blue fruit arriving with a precision that seems almost engineered.

The Wraith, the newest of the three expressions, splits the difference: it’s powerful but seductive, rolling across the palate with a creaminess that lingers long, long, long after the last sip.

Our last Hundred Acre offer went quickly, and we have every expectation that this one will follow suit. So act quickly to secure yours. Wines this great and this giving are the stuff on which collections are made.
