Our Tasting Notes: The nose on this, the second offering in the Gold Spot: The Generations Edition, opens with vibrant notes of red apple and dark, plump berries, followed by fragrant floral undertones and a subtle, woody sweetness. Warming spices of clove and a hint of nutmeg add intrigue, while a touch of almond provides a delicate counterpoint. All of this is only prelude to the palate, which is unexpectedly luscious and inviting, with generous servings of red berry compote, toffee, crisp apple, and plump raisins. The wine cask finishing lends delicate tannins that interplay seamlessly with the pot still spices. The finish slowly fades, allowing the wine notes and pot still character to linger, beckoning you to savor each sip and uncover the layers of complexity.
The Specs: The whiskey aged for 13 years in signature ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and was finished in Valpolicella Classico wine casks for an additional 17 months. The result is a whisky in which lush, dark fruit and berry notes work a call-and-response with wood and leather.

In the 1920s, the Mitchell family forged a partnership with the Speri family of Secondo Marco winery in Italy, a collaboration that has spanned generations and continues to this day. This latest Generations Edition pays homage to the shared passion and innovation that has defined both families, blending Irish whiskey tradition with the nuanced influence of premium wine casks.
