OUR TASTING NOTES: Good God, the nose on this: a perfumed riot of rose, carnation, jasmine, and lilac that would make a Parisian parfumeur weep with envy. Then comes the long and arresting parade of spices: cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chili, anise. The palate ups the ante spectacularly. It’s fairly bursting with sizzling ginger, black pepper, and mustard seed. Big, bold, earthy, but also, somehow, perfectly balanced by mint toffee sweetness and sugar-coated almonds. Just when you think you know what this is, and what’s coming next, a distinct eucalyptus note lifts the whole experience skyward, before gliding down into a finish of clove, leather, and peppermint. A fascinating and delicious shape-shifter.
