Domaine Brusset, located in the heart of the southern Côtes du Rhône valley, was founded by Laurent Brusset’s grandfather in 1947. The Domaine has since expanded from 13 to 70 hectares, with vineyards spread across five of the Southern Rhône’s most prestigious appellations, including Gigondas and Rasteau. As one of the first estates in the region to introduce small barrels for aging their top wines, they have honed the marriage between fruit and wood to near perfection. Producing compelling wines from some of the most sought out land in the region, Brusset wines stand shoulder to shoulder with the best—at a third or quarter of the price. The ‘Laurent B.’ is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvedre from vines planted in Cairanne and the Plan de Dieu. Fresh and juicy with blueberry and cherry fruit, the wine is exuberant and extremely drinkable. 2017 Cairanne Vieilles Vignes is a richer expression with grapes from the heart of their estate. Using old-vine Grenache and Syrah, this full-bodied wine has loads of fresh raspberry and cassis fruit. Though delicious now, it has the legs to develop beautifully over the next few years.
