DOMAINE BRUSSET, GIGONDAS
RHONE VALLEY, FRANCE 2019
It’s no secret that the Rhône’s Domaine Brusset has become one of our favorite producers for their ability to deliver captivating wines at modest price-points—a distinction that has sky-rocketed them into "cult status." As noted by James Molesworth of Wine Spectator, wineries of the southern Rhône Valley produce "something for every wine lover...from big, muscular wines to more stylish" and the wines of Laurent Brusset, taking over for his father Daniel, "lead this group." Simply put, we cannot get enough. Our previous Brusset offers have sold out quickly, and today’s feature of their most recent 2019 vintage will undoubtedly go just as fast. Today we're thrilled to have an allocation of two of Domaine Brusset’s prized Gigondas reds: their 2019 ‘Les Hauts de Montmirail’ and the 2019 ‘Tradition Le Grand Montmirail.’ With high score-to-price ratios and special Mix & Match Concierge pricing, today’s offer is simply not to miss.
Domaine Brusset, located in the heart of the southern Côtes du Rhône valley, was founded by Laurent Brusset's grandfather Andre in 1947. The Domaine has since expanded from 13 hectares in Cairanne to 70 hectares throughout the Valley, with vineyards spread across five of the Southern Rhône's most prestigious appellations—including Gigondas, which Robert Parker predicted would become “one of the most sought-after wines in southern France.” As one of the first estates in the region to introduce small barrels for ageing their top wines, they have honed the marriage between fruit and wood to near perfection. Now Brusset wines stand shoulder to shoulder with the best (often at a third or even a quarter of the price).
After their purchase of the coveted Dentelles de Montmirail vineyard in Gigondas, Domaine Brusset solidified their status in the Valley by offering proof of Parker’s prediction that the region is capable of greatness. All harvested by hand, today’s duo showcases the diversity of the Gigondas terroir. ‘Le Haut de Montmirail’ is a bolder expression, composed of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah and aged in 50% new French oak. The ‘Tradition Le Grand Montmirail’ boasts a much higher percentage of Grenache and sees less wood, providing more purity of fruit and offering a fresher style right of the gate. Don't miss this opportunity to secure your order of both labels before they’re gone!
