While many producers use three main grape varietals, the de Montal house champions four: Baco, Folle Blanche, Colombard, and Ugni Blanc are all sourced from estate-owned vineyards within the esteemed Bas-Armagnac region, widely recognized as the source of the most distinguished Armagnacs. After distillation by de Montal’s three copper stills, charmingly named Athos, Portos, and Aramis, the eaux-de-vie are transferred to large oak barrels from Gascony, Allier, and the Vosges to complete their long maturation.
