The Story: Cincoro, a portmanteau of "cinco" (five) and "oro" (gold), was born from a serendipitous meeting of five NBA team owners at dinner in Greenwich Village, in New York City, in 2016. While waiting for a reservation that had been mistakenly made for a different night, according to Forbes, the five began talking about tequila, and “by the time they were seated, this multibillion-dollar table was discussing the specific characteristics they wished they could find on the shelf.” Not long after, a new company was launched, with a mission to create a spirit that would redefine the category. Drawing on the diverse terroir of Jalisco, Cincoro sources its 100% Blue Weber Agave from both the highlands (whose soils create sweeter, more floral agave) and lowlands (known for its minerality).
