The Story: The history of white wine at Château Margaux began in the early 18th century, and was given a decided boost with the introduction of Pavillon Blanc in the early 20th century. Now comes the third wave: Pavillon Blanc Second Vin, the gorgeous end product of years of extensive soil analysis of the various soils in the vineyard and a patient and methodical operational approach to harvesting each plot at maximum ripeness. The result is as exciting as a connoisseur could hope, and only burnishes the estate’s legend.

Specs: Like Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux, this is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, and produced from the estate’s historic vines.

Our Tasting Notes: A white wine for red wine lovers, or, to put it another way, we were struck in our tasting by its complex and almost haunting aromatics, its uncommon depth of expression, its almost satiny rich texture, and its long and resonant finish. Pavillon Blanc Second Vin is a wine to be appreciated in its youth, but also one that, we feel certain, will age gracefully for at least the next two decades.
