CHÂTEAU LA ROSE PERRIÈRE, LUSSAC-SAINT-ÉMILION

BORDEAUX, FRANCE 2018

One of the great things about the recent vintages of Right Bank Bordeaux is the wonderful freshness and energy coming out of the glass.

This is what critics are referring to when they speak about the more modern style of winemaking on display. More modern — because the great beauty of these wines is that they still retain all the intensity, character, and charm of old-school Bordeaux. In other words: freshness and energy is not the be-all, end-all; it serves a larger, and more beautiful, purpose — namely, to bring more dynamism to these signature traits that are, after all, why so many of us turn to Bordeaux in the first place.

And that brings me to today's offer: the 2018 vintage from Château La Rose Perrière Lussac Saint-Emilion, which Wine Advocate hailed for, you guessed it, its "fantastic freshness," along with a "rich, sumptuous, full-bodied palate" and "ripe, velvety tannins," and which Jeb Dunnuck awarded 94 points.

Folks, this is a deeply pleasurable, cellarable wine, and we're able to offer it to you, this week, for a best price of less than $25!

Château La Rose Perrière isn't just skilled at marrying modernity and tradition. It also knows how to marry craft and drinkability, elegance and soul.

Lussac Saint-Emilion is the estate's iconic wine, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's made from small parcels situated on the estate plateau, where the excellent limestone soils are unusually thin. This accounts, in part, for the minerally character of the wine, not to mention its marvelous finesse. To understand the source of its freshness, you need look no further than the vinification process. The winemakers change barrels every year, an innovation that imparts an unmistakable zip, without losing any of the character and complexity that oaking brings.

I would be remiss if I didn't single out the fantastic nose here, which fairly explodes out of the glass: you'll revel in the aromas of lilac, ripe plum, licorice, cedar, and black fruits.

One last note: I mentioned its cellarability. You won't have long to wait — perhaps another couple of years, when we fully expect its drinking window to begin, and all its many dimensions to come into greater focus.

Don't miss a phenomenal opportunity to load up your cellar for years to come with a wine that — trust me — will reward you many, many times over.
