CHATEAU GRAND CORBIN MANUEL, GRAND CRU

SAINT-EMILION, BORDEAUX 2015

In the last 15 years, the younger generation has quietly been establishing itself in Bordeaux. As new technology, global perspectives and market trends spread throughout the wine world, the innovation in this iconic region continues to carve out its own niche - producing exciting, under-the-radar wines that won't break the bank. Many of this new generation were born into the winemaking industry and grew up on family estates. However, many have ventured to the far reaches of the globe to work and study viticulture/winemaking practices abroad to return with new-found skills and expertise, bringing the wines of their family estates to the next level. One of the leading fresh faces of this new generation is Yseult de Gaye, and today it is a real treat to have her 2015 Grand Corbin Manuel - an outstanding Grand Cru from Saint-Emilion that's turning heads and impressing wine critics and lovers alike.

Located a short distance away from Cheval Blanc in the northwest of Saint-Emilion near Pomerol, the 7-hectare property was originally part of Chateau Grand Corbin. The estate was separated in 1855 and eventually re-named Grand Corbin Manuel. First purchased in 2001 by the Gaye family, it wasn't until 2005 when Yseult de Gaye fully took over operations of the estate at the age of 25. She made the decision to remodel the chateau, including the instillation of small capacity heat regulated stainless steel vats and a new air conditioned cask room. In the vineyard, the soils are comprised of sand and clay with vines that are an average of 35 years old. Dominated by Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the combination of these varieties give the wine a rich, supple texture with a complexity of flavors and aromas that far surpass its price point.

Today's offer is for the stunning 2015 vintage of this exceptional cuvee. The cepage is 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine is aged in 60% new French oak. Rich and polished, the wine has ripe flavors of raspberry, blackberry and anise and is complemented by fine tannins and acidity, giving it the aging potential of at least another decade. Limited in production, this is one of the best values you can find coming out of Bordeaux today. With up to 25% off and less than $30 a bottle, our allocation is sure to go fast, so we suggest placing your orders as soon as possible!
