Four hundred years. That's how long Champagne Cattier has been making wine in Chigny-les-Roses. Or, to put it another way: 13 generations of the family have been quietly plying their craft in the Montagne de Reims, producing the famed ‘Ace of Spades’ Armand de Brignac, and impervious not just to fashion but to the passage of time itself.
To celebrate that astonishing 400th anniversary, we've secured an allocation for the ages: their Clos du Moulin and their Clos Moulin Rosé (rare, single-vineyard expressions from one of the last remaining walled "clos" in all of Champagne) and their limited-edition 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs 400th Anniversary, 2018 Vintage (1.5 L), only 500 bottles of which were made.
These releases are strictly for the true lovers and knowers of Champagne.

These are sourced from a mere 2.2-hectare Premier Cru parcel that the family acquired in 1950, yielding fewer than 7,000 individually numbered bottles per release. Each one is a blend of three carefully selected vintages, aged extensively on the lees for the kind of depth and finesse that simply can’t be faked or finessed. These are wines that honor, truly, their Premier Cru terroir.
Even rarer is the limited-edition 1er Cru Blanc de Blancs 400th Anniversary 2018 Vintage. Made from pure Chardonnay from the Montagne de Reims, it spent six years on the lees in those historic cellars at Rilly-la-Montagne, developing deep, aromatic complexity and inestimable bubble finesse.
Cattier remains one of the oldest independent family houses in the entire appellation, and it never ceases to boggle our minds that it has been working the same Premier Cru vineyards since 1625, or, for more than 150 years before the United States declared its independence. Their cellars reach deeper into the chalk than just about anyone else's, and that depth shows in every bottle.
We wish we didn’t have to say that our allocation is severely limited, but it’s true. When you're dealing with a walled vineyard producing fewer than 7,000 bottles and an anniversary magnum limited to 500 worldwide, "limited” is simply the reality.
But that also means you’re getting something rare and true and beautiful, in a world that is in woefully short supply of all three.
