CAPARZO

TUSCANY, ITALY

Established in the 1960s, the historic Caparzo Estate is one of the original Montalcino wineries and is amongst those that led to the birth of one of the most famous wines in the world: Brunello di Montalcino. The historic Caparzo Estate is located on the elegant hillside on the north side of Montalcino in the best area of the DOCG. Purchased in 1998 by the Queen of Brunello, Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, she immediately carried out her objective of combining tradition with innovation to create high-quality wine that is the pure expression of Montalcino. Investment and modernization of the vineyards, with the help of winemaker Massimo Bracalente, have all ensured that Caparzo continues to be a top Brunello producer. Today we are offering Caparzo’s flagship Brunello di Montalcino and single-vineyard Brunello ‘La Casa’  from the epic 2016 vintage—an exceptional vintage that promises decades of further evolution in the bottle—along with the spectacular 2015 Riserva. Special Mix & Match pricing will be available for one week only!

In 1977, Caparzo introduced the concept of Cru to Montalcino, vinifying the grapes from the La Casa vineyard separately, to showcase their high-quality and uniqueness from the famous galestro soils. The single-vineyard Brunello ‘La Casa,’ one of the winery’s gems, is located in the northeast of the Brunello zone on the famed hill of Montosoli, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious sites in the appellation. The unique soil, along with the vineyard’s microclimates, give this single-vineyard Brunello an elegant complexity and unparalleled age-worthiness. It is a finely wrought wine made for aging that will endure the test of time, a perfect addition to any worthy cellar.

Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is only produced in the most extraordinary of vintages from the oldest vines and the best vineyard sites. Sourced from high-altitude hillside vineyards within the appellation, the grapes for the Caparzo Riserva are hand-selected by winemaker Massimo Bracalente. The Riserva must be aged for at least six years, with a minimum of two years oak aging per DOCG regulations. Hence, the Riserva will always be a year older than its Brunello compatriots. Combining tradition with innovation is a defining feature of the Caparzo estate. Through the vintages, the winery has proved its ability to produce wines that achieve top standards in quality, thanks to the meticulous determination of Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini. Secure your order today to experience these unparalleled wines for yourself!
