BRESSLER VINEYARDS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

There are a select few Napa wineries that have such boutique case production and lofty reputations that vintage releases sell out almost exclusively via mailing list—and it can often take years to gain membership to these coveted lists. As such, these wines are seldom seen on restaurant menus and never hit retail shelves, so many of us have only heard of the winery without actually being able to taste the wines. Such is the case with the opulent, radiant Cabernet Sauvignon from Bressler Vineyards. Bressler Vineyards was founded in January 1999 when Bob and Stacey Bressler purchased their home with an acre of Napa Valley vineyard property. Located on the west side of St. Helena, the five-acre vineyard is adjacent to Hayne Vineyard (made famous by Turley Zinfandel) and across the street from the prestigious Beckstoffer Crane Vineyard. Along with winemaker Mia Klein and “Napa Valley's most sought-after vineyard consultant” David Abreu, Bressler Cabernet Sauvignon releases quickly began attracting critic and consumer attention (Wine Spectator). After 15 vintages, the Bresslers have retired from winemaking, and while this is sad news for the wine world, it is great news for today’s offer. We’ve been able to source three library vintages of Bressler Cabernet—2006, 2013, and 2014—for our Concierge customers, and are offering special pricing that’s the lowest available in the country.

According to Klein, 2006 was a vintage that “rewarded the growers and winemakers who exercised patience.” The extraction and tannin structure have allowed the wine to mature well over the decade since bottling, and the wine is beautifully evolved today, showcasing notes of blackberry jam, vanilla, lavender, dark cocoa, and coffee bean.

Wine Spectator reported 2013 had “practically a flawless growing season,” and the 2013 Bressler is easily one for the books. With its decadent and precise flavors and aromas of walnut, maple, dark berry and raspberry compote, it will be hard to resist temptation, but if you can this wine certainly still has longevity in bottle before reaching its peak.

Coming on the heels of a stellar year, the 2014 Bressler is distinct from 2013, with a richness and complex aromatic profile not apparent in many wines. It’s a darker and bolder expression, with notes of chocolate truffle, tobacco, plum, and sandalwood. This wine is incredibly generous and balanced now, but it’s not difficult to imagine how the flavors will be amplified in the coming years.

Securing high-quality Napa Valley Cabernet below $70 can be a feat in itself, and when you consider that these wines were difficult to secure even when produced each year, that makes for a deal not to be missed. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to gather some excellent vintages with special Concierge pricing up to 30% off before the wines are gone for good.
