After having the pleasure to feature some of Russell Bevan’s wines over the last few years, we’ve seen him fulfill his destiny and reach legendary status. Crafting over 40 wines that have achieved at least 95-points by Wine Advocate, including a multitude of 100-point perfections, Bevan continues to build onto his list of accolades, with acclaim now coming from a litany of critics throughout the wine world, including Wine Spectator and Antonio Galloni of Vinous. Today’s wine is another hailed showstopper to add to the list—an epic, tour-de-force that is unapologetically opulent and not for the faint of heart, coming from an extraordinary site that neighbors Screaming Eagle in Napa Valley’s renowned district of Oakville: 2016 Bevan Cellars Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Thanks to the red, rocky soil terraces on the Western side of the Vaca Mountains, this Cabernet is big, juicy, succulent and simply irresistible. Deep in color, the wine oozes with flavor and savory richness, exploding on the palate with ripe plums and cassis. With very fine-grained tannins and a mouth-watering finish that seemingly last forever, this can still be a wine for those too impatient to lay it down. For the patient collector who can hold on and wait, it will be quite rewarding, cellaring beautifully over the next few decades.
