BERINGER, PRIVATE RESERVE, CABERNET SAUVIGNON

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA 2015

Dense, luscious, and opulent, Beringer’s Private Reserve is a Cabernet icon. With each successive release, the timeless magic of this Napa Valley superstar continues to entice consumers and wine media alike. With the newest 2015 release of their great Private Reserve, Beringer continues to be one of the most successful Cabernets of Napa Valley. There’s something exciting happening here. I can practically feel the energy and verve that’s packed into this wine. Though I’m familiar with Beringer’s Private Reserve, the 2015 is a testament to their impeccable standards. Perfect balance, seamless integration, and a hedonistic finish - this is everything you could want from a Napa Cabernet.

In 1876, brothers Frederick and Jacob Beringer established the Beringer winery with the belief that Napa could be a premier wine-growing region like Germany’s Rhine River Valley where they were from.  Beringer quickly became famous for producing world-class wines.  Today, more than 140 years later, Beringer has become one of the most recognizable names when it comes to California wines. But the Private Reserve line up is not something you see everyday.  When you’ve been around for as long as Beringer has, you have access to the the best fruit and vineyard plots in Napa. Fifth-generation winemaker Mark Beringer creates a blend that showcases the best qualities of each vineyard to make this dynamic masterpiece.

The 2015 Private Reserve Cabernet is a blend of mountain and valley fruit that yields both structure and richness. The tufa-rich Bancroft Ranch and volcanic Steinhauer Ranch vineyards atop Howell Mountain provide the foundation (62%) for the 2015 blend. A significant portion also comes from the iron-rich Home and Chabot vineyards (28%) in the St. Helena AVA. Spring Mountain’s Marston Ranch and Mt. Veeder’s Derr Family vineyards (10%) round out the final blend. Beringer’s reserve vineyards offer Cabernet Sauvignon of such quality that a minimalist approach to winemaking has long defined this special blend. Each vineyard is vinified separately, and tailored pump-over techniques are used for optimal extraction. The wine is aged for 20 months in hand-selected, custom-toasted barrels of French Nevers oak (85% new) before assemblage, where winemaker Mark Beringer prioritizes the expression of vintage and each vineyards’ unique terroir.

And speaking of vintage, today’s 2015 Private Reserve Cabernet was awarded 99 points by James Suckling, the highest rating this wine has ever received. For me, this wine marks a "return to the renaissance” of sorts. It re-establishes Beringer as a relevant leader in Napa Valley. If only Bothers Frederick and Jacob Beringer could see this wine…

Today we are offering this masterpiece at 10% off our regular price on bottle 1 and 20% off when purchasing 3 or more bottles - by far the best price in the country. This is an offer you don’t want to miss!
