ANTINORI TIGNANELLO
TUSCANY, ITALY 2023
A new release from Tignanello is always a major event, and today we’re bringing you early access to their 2023 vintage – and at one of the best prices you're going to find anywhere in the marketplace.
The 2023 vintage in Tuscany has been praised in every quarter, and Tignanello, of course, is a name that transcends every fad and fashion.
What are you getting when you purchase this Super Tuscan superstar?
Only 600 years of heritage, the world-class winemaking of one of the best teams in the industry, and an investment that continues to pay dividends over time.
The critics have yet to weigh in on Tignanello 2023, but we just emerged from our tasting like moviegoers from a rousing blockbuster, buzzing and happy and unable to stop talking.
This is a statement wine, powerful and dynamic, but also textured and expressive. As always, Sangiovese is the driver, delivering bright, focused fruit, while Cabernet provides the frame and the character. What makes it so pleasurable to spend some time with are a couple of traits that fly under the radar of casual drinkers: the well-handled acidity, a necessity with a wine this big, and the pronounced note of minerality (essential to all great Tuscan wines) that lingers on the long, rich finish.
This is the 52nd edition of this totemic wine, and delicious proof that the Antinori family refuses to go gently into that good night.
Now in their 26th generation of winemaking, the family traces its history in southwest Florence to 1385, long before Bolgheri became synonymous with fine Italian wine, and can lay claim to being the 10th oldest family-owned company in the world.
In more recent years, the Antinoris made history with their Solaia, when it became the first Italian wine to be named the No. 1 Wine in the World by Wine Spectator.
The story of Tignanello is a drama all its own.
In 1971, a 28-year-old Piero Antinori took over the estate and declared that his goal was nothing less than to "rewrite all the rules for vino Italiano." This culminated in the creation of Tignanello, a wine that helped to pull all of Italy into a new era of winemaking.
Today, the Tenuta Tignanello estate spans 300 acres in the heart of Chianti Classico, including the prized hillside sites of Tignanello and Solaia.
Tignanello broke new ground as the first Sangiovese aged in barrique and among the first to blend with non-indigenous varieties, and its radical-at-the-time approach to declassifying wines and ignoring traditional norms laid the foundation for the Super Tuscan movement.
Will you taste that rebel spirit in the 2023 vintage?
Maybe not rebelliousness, but its energy and excitement is unmistakable from first nosing to last sip, and we can't wait for you to taste for yourselves.
Secure your bottles and cases today, and rest assured: we source only from the estate, to ensure that your bottles and cases arrive as they should and as you deserve: with pristine provenance guaranteed.
