ALEXANDER MURRAY 37 YEAR CASK STRENGTH
SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY

HIGHLANDS, SCOTLAND

A 37-year-old cask strength Highland single malt, sourced from the few scarce barrels from the late 1980s that still remain in Scotland, for just over $350?

Believe it.

And not only are you unlikely to turn up an age statement like that anytime soon, but comparable bottles routinely fetch between $2,000 and $5,000 … if you can find them at all.

This is exactly the kind of whisky that serious collectors dream of getting their hands on.

And as gob-smacking as all that is, how about this: it's already racked up some pretty serious hardware, including: Double Gold winner at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits Competition and a finalist for Best Ultra-Aged Single Malt.

But to really, truly understand what makes it so special, and so unexpected, we need to take a brief detour into Scotch history, specifically, to the catastrophic early 1980s.

In 1983, the Scotch industry imploded. The great crash sent distilleries into hibernation, with stills across Scotland sitting dormant for much of the next decade. They simply weren't making whisky during this period, at least not in any meaningful quantity.

Which makes late-'80s malts almost mythically rare these days.

This 1987 vintage (finished in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at cask strength with zero chill-filtering) is one of the precious few that survived the turbulence.

The color alone signals its age: a deep gold that catches the light in the glass. On the nose, it's pure nostalgia: sweet stone fruit syrup, toasted cereal grains, a whisper of milk chocolate, a touch of tangerine. For a spirit that spent nearly four decades in barrel, the first sip delivers a striking freshness, with persimmon and plum jumping out strong, followed by a wave of baking spices (clove and mace, most particularly). The finish is everything you could hope from a bottle this old: long and graceful and (dare we say it) contemplative.

We’ve long been devotees of Alexander Murray for the way they’ve married their love of craft to a staunch belief that exceptional Scotch should be approachable and accessible, and this 37-year-old embodies that philosophy like no other bottling they’ve ever put out.

We can’t wait until you can pour yourself a couple fingers and marvel at your good fortune. Secure yours today!
