2017 Double Diamond is coming in hot! Schrader Cellars has officially unveiled the new vintage of their fan-favorite Cabernet Sauvignon. With a goal of crafting a Cabernet in the Schrader tradition of excellence, but that could be enjoyed on a more regular basis—save those Schrader Beckstoffer To Kalon bottles for special occasions!—Fred Schrader created the Double Diamond label nearly two decades ago. Like all Schrader wines, Double Diamond is crafted by highly acclaimed Napa Valley winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and opens with black and blue fruits that intermingle with a touch of oak spice. This is a full-bodied, impressively rich wine, with a beautiful streak of acidity; it is ready to enjoy upon release yet will evolve nicely for the next five years. These wines have quickly sold out in years past; in fact, this is only the second vintage of which we’ve been able to secure an allocation for our Concierge customers.

Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown has established himself as one of the most respected winemakers in the Valley, and his dedication to excellence has helped Schrader Cellars’ wines garner an unprecedented record of twenty-seven 100-point scores from the world’s most respected wine critics. Beginning with the 2016 vintage, the fruit for Double Diamond has been sourced exclusively from prime vineyard plots within Oakville, a favorite appellation among connoisseurs of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. Designed by Carol Schrader, the striking label design for the 2017 Double Diamond Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon draws inspiration from the heritage of the wine itself and Schrader Cellars’ bold vision for the future. Schrader Cellars became recognized for powerful and unapologetically hedonistic Cabernet Sauvignons soon after being established, and the new vintage of Double Diamond confirms this reputation.
