100-POINTERS OF 2023

BORDEAUX, FRANCE

The critics just re-rated these wines, and the news could hardly be better for their iconic estates ... or for you.

All five notched a perfect 100-points, which comes as no surprise to us (we were blown away by them at En Primeur), and only burnishes the growing legend of the 2023 vintage.

Now, the hard part:

These wines will  only become more difficult, and more expensive, to find, now that they’ve been so anointed. So take advantage of this opportunity to stock your cellar with some of the greatest expressions of our time ... while locking in some of the best prices you’re likely to find going forward.

It's a pretty special crop of wines, beyond even the scores.

Vieux Château Certan, always one of the most difficult Pomerols to source in any vintage, feels especially elusive right now. The others — Mouton, Cheval Blanc, Figeac, and Palmer — need little introduction, but 2023 has given each of them something extra: a combination of depth, precision, and energy that has the most jaded critics dipping deep into their bag of adjectives.

The new tasting notes will leave you giddy at what awaits you:

Just listen:

  • Château Mouton Rothschild (Pauillac) — a wine of “power” and “grip,” Jane Anson called it, rhapsodizing about “the magic of these soils” in a Mouton that was built around upon one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon on record at the property
  • Cheval Blanc (Saint-Émilion) — “one of the most profound wines of the vintage,” declared The Wine Advocate, “supple and seamless … concluding with a long, perfumed finish”
  • Château Figeac (Saint-Émilion) — Galloni called it an “outrageously great” wine, with “mind-blowing intensity and pure power”
  • Vieux Château Certan (Pomerol) — in the words of James Suckling, “mesmerizing … a masterpiece in subtlety. Can’t get better than this”
  • Château Palmer (Margaux) — “a breathtaking wine …  inky, rich and explosive,” wrote Antonio Galloni of Vinous, who concluded that if he had to pick a single wine to own from the 2023 vintage, Palmer would be it

Oh, and to speak, once more, of perfection ...

They’re the perfect way to commemorate the big anniversary, the milestone birthday, and the dinners you want your children to remember.

So, secure your bottles and cases today, and prepare to revel in the kind of winemaking that only the most discriminating palates can appreciate.
