Murray McDavid, Laphroaig 17-Year '1999' Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Limited release, 264 bottles produced. Laphroaig Distillery famously produces one of the peatiest whiskies in the world. The peat bogs on Islay are built up over thousands of years and it is this peat which is used to create their iconic spirits. Laphroaig, distilled on the south coast of Islay, is famed for its powerfully peaty spirit. Unusually filled directly into a Sherry hogshead, this smoky, heavy malt has been tamed with rich, luscious fruit. It is notoriously difficult to balance peat with a heavy Sherry maturation. The Whisky Creation's Team expertise in maturation has nevertheless resulted in this sublime example of the art. Nose: sugared almonds, medicinal, sea spray. Palate: sweet peat, oak spice, pine, hazelnut.
