2015 Concha y Toro, Gravas Rojas, Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2015 Gravas Rojas is now a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from the Puente Alto, where the Don Melchor is also produced. For this they used grapes from vines planted in 1985 and 2004 that fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels, of which 20% are new, for 12 months. This comes from the same Don Melchor vineyard, and grapes from younger vines are used there. This is kind of a second wine of Don Melchor, with structure but perhaps not with the elegance of tannins of the grand vin. It is juicy, with less complexity and depth but a noteworthy example of a top Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto, with good energy.
