2018 Edouard Delaunay Chassagne-Montrachet

Gorgeous pale gold in colour with a first nose that is redolent of lemon and citrus, bergamot, mango, white flowers – jasmine in particular – and pollen. Starts off taut and lively on the palate, developing considerable roundness. Flavours of fresh herbs (a hint of chervil and basil) and lime open up to notes of peach and barley sugar, followed by almond cream, hazelnut and nougat. Exceptional freshness and pleasing acidity precede astounding richness and complexity.
