2018 Department 66 ' D66' Grenache

93 POINTS: Dave Phinney’s Department 66 project is based in Maury, Richard Case and Bob Doyle running the winery in his absence. Some of the first vineyards Phinney owns, they have amassed about 120ha, built a winery, and have been up and running since 2009. This 2018 boasts raspberry cola, brandied cherry and rich cedar aromas and has voluminous body and weight. Dark sweet black fruit, salted milk chocolate, liquid slate, and a wealth of spices on a long finish.
