2018 Chateau Pauillac

95 Points: The 2018 Château Pauillac is stunning stuff, and every bit as impressive as the 2016, which is a brilliant wine. Based on a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot brought up in new barrels, it sports a dense purple color as well as a gorgeous bouquet of crème de cassis, scorched earth, lead pencil, violets, and subtle tobacco. Flawlessly balanced, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated, it's the full package and has a great mid-palate, building, elegant tannins, notable purity, and a great finish. It's going to evolve for 20-25 years or more.
