2016 Dr. Heidemanns-Bergweiler Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Großes Gewächs

The Bernkasteler Lay is one of excellent vineyards of our winery, but it is not as famous as some of the other vineyards of the Estate. The Bernkasterler Lay produces wines of very good quality, and is a part of the Bernkasteler Badstube, under which name the wine is often sold. The southwest-facing steep slopes on the right bank of the Moselle from the outskirts of Bernkastel toward the town of Zeltingen create exceptionally good growing conditions for Riesling wines characterized by a fine elegance. The soil is loamy and stony, with its base constituent formed by slate residual soil. The GG for our dry Riesling line is the cherry on top of a Sundae. Hard to find so much complexity and minerality in a dry Riesling. Have it with bright meat and a mix of different mushrooms and autumn herbs.
