2016 Clos Saint Michel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Coteau Brûlé'

France > Rhone > Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Pre-Arrival: Spring 2020
A new cuvée from this estate, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Coteau Brule is a rather unusual blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache Gris, fermented and aged in foudre. Garrigue notes highlight cherry and apricot fruit on the nose, while the full-bodied, creamy-textured palate delivers waves of supple red and blue berries and a healthy dose of pepper-aniseed spice. With a long, silky finish, this looks to be a unique, top-end wine in the making.
