2006 Calon Ségur

93 POINTS: The 2006 Calon Ségur was initially restrained but took on weight as it sat in the glass, developing complex aromas of blackberry, graphite, earth, and oak spice with time. The texture was silky, but the density and weight became apparent with time, leading into an impressive finish. This wine seems more youthful than many from this vintage, which augurs well for its future ageing potential. Consulting oenologist Éric Boissenot blended 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, and aged the wine entirely in new casks.
